It is difficult to examine paranormal phenomenon without entering into a discussion of energy oneness which in some way involves the latest theories of quantum physics that cover the “Theory of Everything.” Einstein spent the last part of his life searching for a Unified Field Theory which all forces between particles could be described with a single field - in essence the one “force” that connects us all.
The concept of a unifying field is one that many people fascinated with New Age concepts are very excited about. The discovery of such a field that forms this “Energy Oneness” would be proof that we are all “one.” Electricity, magnetism and gravity could all be explained with a single force in which no rules are broken and yet all “things” are connected regardless of distance. Einstein’s Theory of Relativity unified electricity and magnetism with his concept of spacetime (the unity of space and time). It was only in 1831 that Faraday discovered a magnetic field could induce an electric current - and the two fields were united.
Is Energy Oneness Real?
When people contemplate the idea of Energy Oneness, they are usually referencing the various reported psychic phenomenon. In an effort to explain how someone can perceive a place or event at a remote location, some parapsychologists latched on to the New Age notion of a unifying force that these psychics could “tap into.”
Unfortunately, physics has yet to prove that theory, and as it stands the entire concept of Energy Oneness is more of a religious belief than a scientific principle. This religious believe has spawned a huge number of newer religions that steal the concept of “OM” or “Aum” from much older religions which have always subscribed to the concept of one energy field connecting all of life and the Universe - Hindu, Buddist, and many others.
Today, however, the newer concepts (which I refer to as new age) are morphing those concepts into strange cults that incorporate newer ideas related to the world energy crisis, global warning, and the concept that we can fabricate our own destiny with the power of our own minds. For example, now we have the Oneness University with a mission to “Usher in the Oneness Age.”

If you want to take classes to learn how to connect with the “Oneness”, there are campuses in Italy and Fiji. There are no prices listed on the website, but I strongly suspect the classes aren’t free. This religion of a “new world” where we are all connected through this unifying force (remember, there still is no evidence that there is a single unifying force) is showing up everywhere, not only in the form of these sort of “university” churches, but also as humanitarian organizations that seek to teach the concept of “interconnectedness,” like the Global Oneness Project.

So, sometimes the religious connotation of the belief system is lost in the real-world tasks and discussion. However, from a historical religious perspective, one can see how this belief system promotes the idea that the Christian concept of a “Trinity” is invalid. The argument is that Christ, the Holy Spirit and God are all the same “ONE” - in essence that Jesus was God, and that in the same way we all have the same potential to become the same “ONE,” to become God.
These are the concepts that are hidden under the “let’s just all hold hands and get along in a new world of peace and interconnectedness.” The doctrine itself demands the acceptance that the Son of Man was a tremendous prophet, and in tune with Energy Oneness, but he was no different than the rest of us.
I contend that the Christian view is one where Christ is quite different than the rest of humanity, and it is through Christ, not attempting to bypass Christ and “tap into” the unifying oneness, that humanity will find itself. The proponents of Energy Oneness speak of peace and cooperation in this world, while the message the Christ of the Bible offered was one of the next world - not of this one. Consider the following quote very carefully.
“Do not think that I come to bring the peace upon earth: I came not to send peace but the sword. For I come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and the man’s enemies shall be they of his own household. He, who loves father or mother more than Me, is not worthy of Me; and he, who loves son or daughter more than Me, is not worthy of Me. And he, who does not take up his cross and follow Me, is not worthy of Me” (Matt 10: 34-38).
This is the contention and the underlying attacks (yes, there are attacks) between the New Age (Oneness) crowd and the much-hated Christians. On the one side, the message is peace and healing of this world, while on the other it’s a trial by fire to maintain a focus on the truth - a focus on following, now attempting to lead by becoming a God ourselves. This is what lies at the root of the Energy Oneness movement.
